Bengals Defense Rallies Around Defensive Coordinator

There was something special about today's win for Cincinnati against Baltimore, and no it wasn't them gaining sole possession of first place in the AFC North.

This was a special win for defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer who tragically lost his wife this past week. Despite the tough time Zimmer is going through, he still made the trip to Baltimore to coach his defense because he said it was what his wife would have wanted him to do.

The Bengals defense played inspired football for much of the game and held a Ravens offense that was averaging over 30 points a game to only 14. One of those scores was on a fluke screen pass to Ray Rice.

Shortly after the game the team was shown in the locker room gathering around Zimmer and dousing him with champagne like they had just won the Super Bowl.

The defense not only held the scoring in check, but they also had seven tackles for loss, two sacks, and two interceptions.

Great win for Cincinatti and hopefully this win will make it a little bit easier for Zimmer and his family to cope with the loss.

Since the Titans are a lost cause, I'm going for the Bengals to go all the way after hearing this story. Go Bengals!

  1. It is nice to see that the NFL can be about more than just a $$$$$$$ league, and the defensive players demonstrated that they really love their coach and feel for his loss. Thanks for bringing that story to light. Atta Boy Chad

As for the Titans.....we lost a key defensive back during the Indy game and we were already without Courtland Finnegan but our sudden injury problem does not explain why the Titans were 0 and 4 heading into Sunday nights game. Why do you think we have underachieved this season and what needs to be done to fix the problem?

  2. Addressing the Titans question...it hurts me to say this but it starts with coaching. Jeff Fisher is the longest tenured coach in the NFL and even though he has put together some great teams, something isn't clicking with that team right now.

The play calling has been very questionable and the players are taking tons of penalties each game.

I realize the Titans were 13-3 last season, but that was mainly thanks to ex defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz and his great defense he had. We're obviously missing him this season.

It starts with the coaching and I think its time to go another way. Thanks for the input...its always appreciated!
