Preds makin' a Push!

I was one of many who didn't have high expectations for the Nashville Predators entering this season back in October. Yet somehow the Predators keep clawing their way into playoff contention.

They're currently coming off huge wins over division foes St. Louis and Chicago ( defeated Chicago on 4 goals in the 3rd to come back and win) and they have Phoenix later tonight. They should win this game.

However a team like Phoenix scares me because the Predators always seem to drop the ones they should win, which is a huge part of why they're not on the inside looking out for playoffs. Here's the current playoff picture:

7. Minnesota 65pts
8. Dallas 65pts
9.Edmonton 65pts
10. Anaheim 65pts
11. Predators 62pts

I'm excited to say I'll be attending this Saturday's showdown with the Red Wings at the Sommet Center! The Red Wings have had our number lately beating the Preds 6-2 in their last meeting! The Predators really need this win so come out and support them!!!

Welcome back Tiger!

Tiger Woods is finally back from knee surgery! He practiced today for his first tournament that starts this week.

Tiger was already the best golfer in the world with a bad knee. I can't imagine how dominant he's going to be now that his knee is repaired.

For all of the other professinal golfers, I hope you had your fun without Tiger in the mix! He's back and will probably better than ever, which is simply amazing!

Best of luck Tiger!

Impatiently Waiting

March Madness is practically right around the corner and my impatience is growing more and more every day.

The best part about March Madness is all of the upsets that occur year in and year out. Another fun part is filling out your bracket by predicting the winners all the way up to the National Champion.

My final four right now, which is probably nowhere close to being accurate, is:
  • North Carolina
  • Pittsburgh
  • Oklahoma
  • Louisville
My prediction of National Champion is still North Carolina despite losing to Maryland over the weekend. I'm still not completely sure what the seedings will be so my Final Four prediction could be dramatically off.

The madness is almost here!!!!!!!

Haynesworth may be gone

I just don't know what to think about the possibility of losing Albert Haynesworth from the Tennessee Titans.

After arguably becoming one of the best D-lineman in the NFL, the Titans may not pay him the money he deserves. It just comes down to which particular players we would rather pay their money.

We've already resigned Kerry Collins and Rob Bironas to deals so Haynesworth will likely go to another team if soemone offers him a deal thats better than the Titans, which is very likely with all of the horrible defensive lines in the league.

Its not the end of the world, however. Our D-line in very deep and players like Jason Jones and Jacob Ford will come in and may not exactly match Haynesworths production, but will at least be solid performers in his place.

A Shout Out to my Vanderbilt Commodores!

So all year long as a Vanderbilt fan I haven't had too much hope in their basketball team this season.

The program is under enormous rebuilding this season and yet these guys are still hanging tough and I couldn't be prouder. The fact that they are 16-9 overall is amazing to me.

There are only 2 juniors and no seniors on this year's team. So obviously that means the rest is filled with inexperienced sophomores and freshman.

They took a big win tonight against Kentucky with the great Memorial Gym crowd behind them. I still have hope for this season, but in the next two or three years this team will be Top 25 potential! Mark my word!

The NBA All-Star Game

The NBA all-star game happened tonight and really wasn't too great. I know there isn't usuall a lot of defense played in the all-star game, but this game was just ridiculous.

I remember all-star games being a whole lot more exciting back about 5 years ago. It honestly just seemed like a huge advertising gimic.

On that note, the NBA is just getting worse and worse every year.....

A-Rod is now A-Roid

Ok so every year around this time a new big name in Major League Baseball gets thown out as a former steroid user.

The newest one? Alex Rodriguez. Ironically enough, everyone was calling for Rodriguez to break Barry Bonds's tainted all-time home run record of 762.

But now that Rodriguez has admitted to using steroid from 2001-2003, if he does break the record it'll just been one cheater beating out another cheater.

It all comes down to who cheated the best in this steroid era which as far as I'm concerned still isn't over despite all of the belated efforts of the MLB.

This whole era should have a separate part in the record book, and Hank Aaron is still my home run king.

Boring sports weekend

This weekend has not exactly been what I would call an exciting weekend for sports.

The most intriguing game of the weekend would probably be the Spurs playing at the Celtics right now, which isn't saying a whole lot.

Sports just isn't the same without football......

What Pat Summitt has done

Pat Summitt, the coach of the University of Tennessee women's basketball team ( in case you didn't know), won her 1,000th game as a coach tonight.

That alone is amazing enough but the fact that she became a coach during such a sexist time in the sports world is just as amazing.

My hat goes off to her and in my opinion is easily one of the BEST coaches of all-time, male or female.

Super Bowl XLIII

So hopefully everyone caught what could be argued as one of the most exciting Super Bowls of recent history on Sunday night.

However it comes in a close 2nd for me as XXXIV, which featured my Tennessee Titans, as the best Super Bowl that I have witnessed.

What made this year's Super Bowl so great was all of the twists and turns it possessed.

  • The Steelers go up 10-0 early on.
  • Cardinals strike back to make it 10-7
  • Steelers push lead to 20-7, and all looks to be over for the Cardinals and their cinderella season.
  • Cardinals go on a 16-0 scoring run, which included the first safety the Super Bowl has seen in almost 20 years.
  • And then finally, Roethlisberger and the Steelers put together one last, game-winning drive to cap off their NFL record 6th Super Bowl title.

You can't ask for more in a Super Bowl. As a Titans fan, I'm going to look at the glass half-full. We beat the Super Bowl champs in the regular season and softened up the Ravens for the Steelers to get a very tired Ravens team to beat up on.

Can't wait for next season. I'll miss you football :(
