Vince Shows How Much He's Really Matured

This story coming out of the Tennessean may be the most uplifting story I've seen in the sports world in a long time. With all of the garbage you see the in the sports section these days, it's good to know there's still a lot of humility in some of our professional athletes.

Titans quarterback Vince Young showed an unquestionable act of kindness on Wednesday by surprising the late Steve McNair's two younger sons at school. Young was particularly hit hard by McNair's unexpected death in July. As many of you already probably know, McNair was a mentor and even a father figure to Vince through his teenage years.

I can't say enough about how classy this was of Vince. To find time during the season to surprise two youngsters who just lost their dad is extremely uplifting. I'm glad to claim Vince as a Tennessee Titan and I hope it stays that way regardless of his troubles on the field.

For all the critics, say what you want about Young's troubles with his accuracy and pocket presence. When it comes down to it this goes way beyond the game of football.

As passionate football fans we sometimes forget that. We like to cheer the guys who win games for us and come down hard on the guys that lead us to failure. Vince Young may never win another game for the Titans ever again. To me, that's not as important as it is to hear stories like this. I hope to see Vince continue to be an example for all other NFL players who can do similar acts of kindness within the community.
